Millions of dollars in outside spending have engulfed Tuesday’s heated special election to fill Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district, and 86 percent has benefited the Republican candidate, state Rep. Rick Saccone. Providing a sizeable chunk of the money behind this election’s spending is a very familiar conservative donor family that would like to keep a small-government conservative in the district: the billionaire Koch family.

Cenk & Ana. In a rare interview on Sunday night, DeVos revealed that she still has a poor grasp on these subjects. There were plenty of cringe-inducing moments during the 13-minute 60 Minutes segment, from DeVos opting not to say whether she thinks the number of false accusations of sexual assault is as high as the number of actual assaults, to her declaration that the federal government has “invested billions and billions and billions of dollars from the federal level, and we have seen zero results.”

"He may be a globalist, but I still like him," Trump said of Cohn, who was sitting in the room and announced earlier this week he is resigning as director of the National Economic Council. "He is seriously a globalist, there is no question. But in his own way he's a nationalist because he loves our country." Sarah Huckabee Sanders reportedly made President Trump “upset” by revealing a bit too much during Wednesday’s press briefing.
When answering questions about Trump’s alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels and the $130,000 payout she reportedly received, Sanders commented, “This case has already been won in arbitration.” Cenk prediction: Tillerson leaving administration

Hour 1:
Cenk & John. The most striking thing about the much-hyped Texas primaries is how ordinary they actually were. That was the message from the Texas Tribune’s Evan Smith, who has been following the state’s politics for the better part of three decades, when I spoke with him by phone. At the end of the day, 1.5 million Republicans voted in the primary and 1 million Democrats did. Despite the blue Texas hype and anti-Trump national environment, Republicans held a 500,000-vote advantage once all the ballots were counted. “Democrats like to say Texas is not a red state, it’s a nonvoting state. Fine. But the fact that it’s a nonvoting state means that it’s a red state,” Smith, the Tribune’s CEO, told me. “At the end of the day, yesterday was more or less a regular Texas election. More Republicans turned out than Democrats.” Sen. Ted Cruz said Wednesday that his re-election campaign was "just having a sense of humor" when it released a radio ad teasing Rep. Beto O'Rourke, who won the Democratic primary, for going by Beto rather than his given name, Robert. "In terms of the jingle, some of it is just having a sense of humor," Cruz told CNN's "New Day." "We had some fun with it."
Cruz, meanwhile, goes by Ted instead of his given name -- Rafael Edward Cruz.
"You're absolutely right. My name is Rafael Edward Cruz," Cruz acknowledged. "I am the son of my father Rafael Cruz, an immigrant from Cuba who came to Texas with nothing."

Hour 2:
Adult film star Stormy Daniels sued President Donald Trump on Tuesday, alleging that he never signed a nondisclosure agreement that his lawyer had arranged with her. Stephanie Clifford, known professionally as Stormy Daniels, signed both the agreement and a side letter agreement using her professional name on Oct. 28, 2016, just days before the 2016 presidential election. Cohen signed the document the same day. Both agreements are appended to the lawsuit as Exhibit 1 and Exhibit 2. The "hush agreement," as it's called in the suit, refers to Trump throughout as David Dennison, and Clifford as Peggy Peterson. In the side letter agreement, the true identity of DD is blacked out, but Clifford's attorney, Michael Avenatti, says the individual is Trump.

Hour 1:
Cenk & Ana. Trump rebuffed claims Tuesday that his White House is in chaos amid reports of high-profile departures and discord within the top ranks of the West Wing.
"The new Fake News narrative is that there is CHAOS in the White House. Wrong! People will always come & go, and I want strong dialogue before making a final decision," Trump tweeted. "I still have some people that I want to change (always seeking perfection). There is no Chaos, only great Energy!" The Turnbull government admits it has no idea if Australia will be exempt from US president Donald Trump’s tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, despite claiming last year that it would escape the levies. Ministers have warned that the tariffs could spark a trade war and lead to global recession, and say Australian officials are scrambling to learn the details of the plan. World stock markets tumbled on Friday after Trump announced he would next week impose tariffs of 25% on steel imports and 10% on imported aluminium, in an attempt to shield local manufacturers from global competition. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has quietly begun allowing more trophy hunting of African elephants, despite President Donald Trump’s pledge last year to uphold a ban on importing parts of animals killed by big-game hunters.

Cenk. Former Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore is asking his supporters for $250,000 to help fund his legal expenses. A new New Yorker profile of Trump-Russia dossier author Christopher Steele reports on a lesser-known memo the former MI-6 spy allegedly discussed with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigators. According to the report, in late November 2016, Steele relayed information from his Russian sources that senior Kremlin officials had intervened to block Mitt Romney as President-elect Trump’s choice for secretary of State. Reporter Jane Mayer writes that Moscow had asked Trump to appoint someone who would be willing to lift sanctions related to Ukraine and cooperate with Russia’s involvement in Syria. Romney, long a vocal hawk on Russia, declined to comment for the report. The White House said the former GOP presidential nominee was never a first choice for the job, and declined to comment on “any communications that the Trump team may have had with Russia on the subject.”

Hour 1:
Cenk, John, Emma Vigeland, & Mark Thompson. Trump doubles down on tariffs. Trump on Friday defended his decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum, even as he acknowledged the move could trigger a global trade war. In a series of early morning tweets, the president continued to defy members of his own party — and some of his top advisers — by insisting that the tariffs would benefit the U.S. economy. “When a country (USA) is losing many billions of dollars on trade with virtually every country it does business with, trade wars are good, and easy to win,” Trump tweeted.

Hour 2:
Mike Jeffcoat, the coach at Texas Wesleyan University and a former major-league pitcher, has been fired after saying in an email to a Colorado high school prospect that the university no longer recruits players from the state due to failed drug tests. Trump has posted a furious, rambling and misspelt tweet about Alec Baldwin, the actor famous for impersonating him on Saturday Night Live. In an early morning post that rambled on multiple tangents, misspelt the word "dying" and called Mr Baldwin by the wrong name, Mr Trump suggested that the impersonation of him on the programme was painful to watch.

Hour 2:
President Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on imported solar materials is already taking its toll on U.S. jobs. After putting plans on hold last month to expand its factories in the United States, SunPower Corp., one of the nation’s largest solar panel manufacturers, now intends to lay off between 150 and 250 workers from its U.S. operations, or 3 percent of its global workforce, as part of a plan to cut operating expenses by 10 percent. Trump still supports raising the age limit to buy certain firearms, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters on Tuesday. But her statement is at odds with Republican sources on Capitol Hill, who have told CNN that Trump's interest in the issue has privately waned in recent days. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which works to elect Democrats to the U.S. House, commissioned a survey and analysis from Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and GBA Strategies to help think through health care messaging. In April, the firm’s veteran pollster Stan Greenberg briefed House Democrats on the findings with a presentation at the offices of the Democratic National Committee. The messaging handouts, obtained by The Intercept, made clear where the party wants its candidates to stand when it comes to health care reform: preferably nowhere, but certainly not with single-payer advocates.

Cenk & Kyle Kulinski. Republican state lawmakers in Florida called on Sunday for the suspension of Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, accusing him of “incompetence and neglect of duty” in the months before the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran and 73 Republican colleagues urged Gov. Rick Scott (R) to suspend Israel, a Democrat who was reelected in 2016 and has said he would not resign over his agency’s handling of one of the country’s deadliest school shootings. “Sheriff Israel failed to maintain a culture of alertness, vigilance and thoroughness amongst his deputies,” Corcoran wrote in a letter released Sunday. “As a result of Sheriff Israel’s failures, students and teachers died.” New poll numbers on gun control: around 70% approve stricter gun control. 76% want to ban mental people for guns; 73% banning ar-15s; 90% want stronger background checks.

Kansas election. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is taking fire from the left after months of relative peace, thanks to a document put online the night of Feb. 22 — a collection of opposition research on Laura Moser, a progressive candidate in Texas’s competitive 7th Congressional District. As Moser was attending a campaign event, the DCCC posted a short but brutal collection of hits on Moser that would be likely used against her if she won the Democratic nomination. The 7th District is one of 23 where Hillary Clinton outpolled Donald Trump in 2016, while voters sent a Republican congressman to Washington. “Democratic voters need to hear that Laura Moser is not going to change Washington,” the committee wrote. “She is a Washington insider, who begrudgingly moved to Houston to run for Congress.”
Moser responded later Thursday night, saying in a statement that the DCCC’s tactics represented “why people hate politics” and hurt the effort to take Congress back from Republicans.

Student's question to teachers possibly carrying weapons: "Does this mean teachers have to be trained to shoot students?" The victims' families and survivors of the Florida high school shooting have not held back, calling out the National Rifle Association in the days since the massacre. On Wednesday, Dana Loesch, the organization's national spokeswoman faced them for the first time. Loesch said the organization feels the process for buying firearms is flawed and ensured the audience that the NRA is fighting for them. But the crowd booed as she left the event. Democrats mulling how to approach gun control on the campaign trail this year are weighing their tough history on the subject against the burning politics of the moment.

Hour 2:
John & Cenk. Longtime National Rifle Association chief executive Wayne LaPierre Thursday addressed criticism of his organization following the Florida school massacre, and his combative defense included expressions of dog-whistle anti-Semitism reminiscent of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," with descriptions of a powerful plot to destroy America's freedom by "European-style Socialists" who he said had taken over the Democratic Party.

Hour 2:
David Hogg has become a strong voice among survivors of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The attention has given him a powerful platform -- but it has also made him the subject of smear campaigns and demonstrably false conspiracy theories. Either he has been "coached" by his father, a former FBI agent; or he is a "pawn" for anti-gun campaigners; or, the most far-fetched, he is not a victim but a "crisis actor," paid to travel to disaster sites to argue against stricter gun laws. "I'm not a crisis actor," Hogg told CNN's Anderson Cooper on "AC360" Tuesday. "I'm someone who had to witness this and live through this and I continue to be having to do that." "I'm not acting on anybody's behalf," the 17-year-old added. As the false theories continued circulating Tuesday, US Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, came to the student's defense on Twitter. The same day Florida's House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted to reject gun control measures demanded by survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School school shooting, the Republican-controlled chamber approved a measure declaring pornography a public health risk. Cenk. Trump ordered the Justice Department on Tuesday to propose regulations to ban so-called bump stocks, which can convert a semiautomatic gun into an automatic weapon like the one used last year in the massacre of concertgoers in Las Vegas. “For everyone, it was a distraction or a reprieve,” said the White House official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reflect internal conversations. “A lot of people here felt like it was a reprieve from seven or eight days of just getting pummeled.” That rather shocking quote is contained in a new Washington Post report about the White House seeing the shooting in part as giving them a brief respite from questions about multiple burgeoning scandals. Liberal billionaire philanthropist George Soros is paying to mobilize 17-year-olds against gun violence, conservative political commentator and former Republican congressman Jack Kingston claimed in an interview with CNN Tuesday morning. Kingston was on the program to discuss a controversial tweet in which he claimed it is implausible that high school students who survived a brutal massacre last week were capable of organizing nationwide rallies for gun control on their own. During the show, Kingston argued that the teenagers are being manipulated by left-wing anti-gun activists funded by Soros. President Trump’s oldest child, Donald Trump Jr., liked two tweets pushing Parkland shooting conspiracies, which accused a student who survived the massacre of being an FBI plant.

Hour 2:
An Idaho Republican state senator has been labeled a “bully” after ranting at college students who traveled hundreds of miles to discuss a birth control bill with lawmakers. State Sen. Dan Foreman also has been slapped with an ethics complaint for an incendiary follow-up tweet sent from an account allegedly associated with him. The tense exchange between Foreman and about a dozen University of Idaho students was captured on camera Monday. Video circulating on social media shows Foreman forcefully pointing his finger and belligerently saying “abortion is murder” to the students, who say they didn’t come to discuss abortion at all.
U.S. senators are planning to mark the 10th anniversary of Wall Street’s meltdown this year with a gift to the nation’s banks: a bill that would unravel regulations put in place after the crisis. The proposed rollback of some key post-crisis rules – which could advance in the coming weeks – is one of the few examples of bipartisanship in Washington since President Donald Trump's election.

Cenk & Ana. Move overperforms massively. Black Panther politicized in negative ways. Right wing trolls spreading fake tweets about being attacked by black people at the movie theater. The cost of a vital cancer drug has gone up 15-fold in four years after its new owner hiked prices on nine separate occasions. Lomustine has been used to treat brain tumours, lung cancer and Hodgkin’s lymphoma for more than 40 years but is now seen by some patients as too expensive. At that point it was being sold for around $50 a capsule. The same dose now costs $768 (£570). NextSource has increased the price nine times in less than five years. A 20 per cent hike in August was followed by a further 12 per cent rise in November, according to analysis by the Wall Street Journal. Prices of other doses of the drug, which the company has renamed Gleostine, have also been increased exponentially.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation acknowledged on Friday that some “protocols were not followed” after it obtained a tip in January that Nikolas Cruz, the suspect in the Florida school attack, had the potential of “conducting a school shooting.” “We are still investigating the facts,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement. “I am committed to getting to the bottom of what happened in this particular matter, as well as reviewing our processes for responding to information that we receive from the public.” Fox & Friends blames prescription drugs, virtual reality, and the "human condition" for the Florida school shooting. Mitt Romney running for Senate.

Segment 2
Cenk, Ana, & Richard Fowler. How many other stories has the National Enquirer covered up to help President Trump? Ronan Farrow's new reporting in The New Yorker forces the question to be asked. But it's a very difficult one to answer because the tabloid is secretive about its practices. Farrow's report highlights a tactic called "catch and kill" -- where a publication buys the rights to a story and then buries the story as a favor to someone. The Enquirer allegedly did this to conceal an extramarital affair by Trump, according to Farrow's report. President Trump, please do something! Do something. Action! We need it now! These kids need safety now!" With tears rolling down her face, Lori Alhadeff screamed into a microphone, glared into a camera, and begged the President to address the nation's deadly gun epidemic. Alhadeff's 14-year-old daughter, Alyssa, was one of 17 people killed during Wednesday's school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Alhadeff's grief was coupled with anger and a demand for answers. Russian-linked bots flooded Twitter with political propaganda in the wake of a deadly school shooting in Florida on Wednesday, according to data from a website tracking Russian activity on the social media site. The website, created by the think tank the German Marshall Fund, tracks the activities of 600 Twitter accounts linked to Russia. And in the days after 17 people were murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the website recorded Russian-linked twitter bots tweeting about Parkland, gun control, Florida and Nikolas Cruz, the alleged shooter.

Cenk. There have been 18 school shootings in the first 45 days of 2018, according to a nonprofit group. Speculation as to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooter Nikolas Cruz’s motivations began late yesterday as Instagram accounts and YouTube comments believed to be associated with him surfaced. Today the leader of a white nationalist fringe group claimed that Cruz was a member, and that his group had given Cruz training.

Segment 2
The Gateway Pundit’s White House correspondent Lucian Wintrich circulated a hoax falsely claiming Buzzfeed wrote an article on “why we need to take away white people’s guns.” In the wake of the February 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida, where at least 17 people were killed Wintrich posted a screenshot of a fake Buzzfeed article titled “Why We Need To Take Away White People’s Guns Now More Than Ever.” In his Thursday morning speech responding to the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida, President Donald Trump correctly noted that “it is not enough to simply take actions that make us feel like we are making a difference; we must actually make that difference.” This comment came near the end of a speech packed with condolences, platitudes, and vague promises to the 17 people who were killed on Wednesday. Though he acknowledged that reports of gunfire first brought police to the scene, not once did he utter the word guns.

The suspect, a former student, was taken into custody "after he committed this horrific, homicidal, detestable act," Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said. Law enforcement sources told CNN that the suspect has been identified as Nicolas Cruz.

Aspiration live read. Hiring management for Trump properties only hired 1 American out of 144 openings. A new study by Alberto Alesina, Stefanie Stantcheva and Edoardo Teso of Harvard University compares perceptions of social mobility in five countries—America, Britain, France, Italy and Sweden—against actual levels. It finds that Americans tend to be optimistic, while Europeans tend to be too pessimistic. An American born to a household in the bottom 20% of earnings, for instance, only has a 7.8% chance of reaching the top 20% when they grow up. Americans surveyed thought the probability was 11.7%. A West Virginia city has agreed to pay a former police officer $175,000 to settle a wrongful-termination lawsuit after he was fired following his decision not to shoot a distraught suspect who was holding a gun. Segment 1
Cenk. Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday offered what was perhaps the most bizarre assessment yet of former President Barack Obama's official portrait by suggesting an artist included "sexual innuendo" in his depiction of the 44th president. A now-deleted post on Hannity's website claimed the portrait, painted by Kehinde Wiley, featured "secret sperm cells," seemingly referencing the detail of Obama's temple in the painting. In a since-deleted tweet on this, Hannity wrote, "Obama's portrait - a stark contrast to predecessors with inappropriate sexual innuendo." A conservative activist in Minnesota introduced a resolution last week to “minimize and eliminate the influence of Islam” in the state’s Republican Party. Jeff Baumann, a notorious anti-Muslim activist in Minnesota’s Senate District 36, also urged in the resolution that “no Islamic leader, religious or otherwise, shall ever be allowed to deliver the invocation at any Republican convention or event.” The resolution further called for “legislation, policies, and educational programs [to] be implemented... so as to evermore minimize and eliminate the influence of Islam within Minnesota, including Minnesota schools.” Two members of the Central Park Five spoke to CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Monday night, and they argued that President Trump‘s defense of Rob Porter fits in quite well with Trump’s pattern of behavior. Yusef Salaam and Raymond Santana were wrongfully convicted of raping and assaulting a jogger back in the ’90s. Trump not only called for their executions with a full page New York Times ad, but he still believes the two men are guilty despite both of them being exonerated by DNA evidence. Federal records show that Michael and Donna Nicholson, parents of the GOP candidate Nicholson, both gave the maximum $2,700 donation in December to U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, the Wisconsin Democrat Nicholson hopes to unseat later this year.

Segment 2
A second grade teacher from Texas died of the flu after she skipped treatment for the virus because it "cost too much." The president’s long-awaited $1.5 trillion proposal, which was released Monday, seeks to leverage $200 billion in direct federal spending over the next decade into an additional $1.3 trillion by relying on state and local tax dollars, as well as private investment. One way to attract private investors to finance infrastructure projects would be to toll roads. Trump’s infrastructure plan would give states more flexibility to toll existing interstate highways ― under the rationale that if you use a road, you ought to pay a price in order to maintain it. Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, considered a potential presidential candidate in 2020, announced Tuesday that she will no longer accept contributions from corporate political action committees.

Hour 2: A woman was removed from the West Virginia House of Delegates on Friday after she used her testimony about a fossil fuel-sponsored piece of legislation to list industry donations to state lawmakers. When Democratic legislators gathered in a hotel in Portland, Maine, for a two-day policy conference last August, they were joined by a host of corporate interests who have good reason to want in on those conversations.
The meeting of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, the party arm responsible for supporting state legislative candidates, was closed to the press and billed as an off-the-record event, but HuffPost has exclusively obtained a copy of the agenda, which shows the members of the DLCC’s finance council. The finance council includes companies, trade groups, labor unions and public interest organizations, who pay anywhere from $12,000 to more than $100,000 to the DLCC. In return, the conference provided an opportunity for donors to interact with state legislators ― many of whom head their respective chambers ― from around the country.

Cenk. The RNC will not be returning Wynn’s contributions following his sexual assault accusations. An FBI lawyer texted a bureau agent that then-President Obama “wants to know everything we’re doing” — a message that a Senate committee suggested could refer to the federal investigation of Hillary Clinton’s emails. The messages shared between attorney Lisa Page and her lover and bureau colleague Peter Strzok were released Wednesday by the Senate Homeland Security Committee, which provides oversight of the bureau, and is chaired by GOP Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. In one exchange, Page wrote to Strzok in September, 2016 about prepping FBI Director James Comey on talking points for an update he was planning to give Obama that said: “potus wants to know everything we’re doing.” Tensions between Republicans and Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee have reportedly become so hostile that GOP members of the committee are planning to build a literal wall separating the two parties’ staffers. Rep. John Kennedy (R-La.) on Wednesday voiced opposition to President Trump’s proposed military parade, saying the U.S. doesn’t need to “show off” its military power.

Hour 2: Former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman offered a dire outlook of the U.S. under President Donald Trump while taping "Celebrity Big Brother," tearfully cautioning that the country is "going to not be OK." Police in Lancaster, PA say that a poorly-drawn sketch — see above — went a long way in terms of helping their investigation into a theft at a farmers’ market. Hour 2: Cenk & Ana. A "tiny," one-woman firm "inexplicably" won a $156 million federal contract to deliver 30 million meals to Puerto Rico hurricane victims — but managed to deliver just 50,0000 meals before the contract was terminated for cause three weeks later, outraged lawmakers said Tuesday. Atlanta-based Tribute Contracting had "a history of struggling with much smaller contracts" before winning the Federal Emergency Management Agency contract, noted Reps. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., and Stacey Plaskett, D-Virgin Islands. "It is difficult to fathom how FEMA could have believed that this tiny company had the capacity to perform this $156 million contract," Cummings and Plaskett wrote in a letter to House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C. The firm ended up being paid $255,000 for 50,000 meals. Following the death of Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson, 26, in a car accident, Trump took to Twitter Tuesday to tie the professional athlete's death to a need for tougher border security. "So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed ... Jackson," the president tweeted, calling the tragedy "preventable" and insisting the Democrats "get tough on the Border." The accident that killed Jackson took place around 4 a.m. Sunday and officials said the athlete was the passenger of ride-share driver Jeffrey Monroe, 54, of Avon, Indiana, who was also killed. Indiana State Police said Tuesday the driver of the vehicle that struck Jackson and another victim was an undocumented immigrant, CNN reported. It is believed the driver, identified by detectives as Manuel Orrego-Savala, was intoxicated at the time of the accident. According to CNN, Orrego-Savala is a citizen of Guatemala who had previously been deported in 2007 and 2009.

According to Rubio, a Republican-friendly paid family leave bill would neither raise taxes nor impose requirements on businesses to provide leave. Though Rubio and Trump’s paid family leave plan is still in its early stages, Rubio laid out the potential legislation outlines. Hour 2: Cenk & John. Kathleen Hartnett White, who is President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), has been exposed as a conspiracy theorist who believes that nothing bad will happen if human beings flood the atmosphere with carbon dioxide. At 9 a.m. EST Friday, the extractive industry will gain drilling and mining access to previously protected American land, according to an order issued by President Donald Trump late last year. More than 11 billion pieces of plastic larger than five centimetres wide are littering coral reefs across the Asia-Pacific region, according to a recent study. That is enough plastic to make it from Earth to the moon and nearly halfway back. Researchers who published the study last week in Science Magazine believe that the number of plastic in the corals will grow by 40 percent in the next seven years. Meanwhile, the researchers found that the chance of corals getting a disease increased from four percent to 89 percent when they were draped in plastic.
Plastic pollution is just one factor that is putting the world’s coral reefs at risk. Coral reefs maybe have been around for as much as 500 million years, but scientists are warning that they might be gone or decimated by the end of the century.

Trump's chief of staff said on Wednesday the White House would soon allow for the release of a highly controversial Republican memo alleging the FBI abused its surveillance tools. "We have certainly coordinated with members of Congress as is appropriate. As to specifics on this, I just don't know the answer," press secretary Sarah Sanders said on CNN's "New Day." "I'm not aware of any conversations or coordination with Congressman Nunes," Sanders said. Despite widespread coverage of corporations gifting their employees with cash, just 2% of Americans say they've seen any kind of benefit thanks to the Republican tax law signed by President Trump in December. The Netherlands' spy service broke into the computers used by a powerful Russian hacking group and may be sitting on evidence relating to the breach of the U.S. Democratic National Committee. The US has released a sweeping list of prominent Russian business and political figures, in defiance of Moscow and implementing a Congressional law designed to punish Russia for election meddling. The US Treasury report, published shortly before a midnight deadline, listed every senior member of the political administration at the Kremlin, and every Russian oligarch with a net worth of $1 billion or more. Some of those named are already subject to US sanctions. But the administration stopped short of imposing any new punishments, saying the legislation was already doing its job. The report was "not a sanctions list," it said. Instead, the Treasury report resembled an exercise in naming and shaming -- putting individuals on notice that they may be subject to sanctions in the future. Cenk’s prediction/theory: Trump laundering money to Russian oligarchs for decades.

Hour 2: Face recognition technology to put celeb faces on porn. Between 2006 and 2016, a total of 20.8 million prescription painkillers were sent to two pharmacies in Williamson, in Mingo County, West Virginia, a town with a population of only 2,900 people. A U.S. government panel is now questioning how drug wholesalers could have sent millions of prescription pills to two pharmacies in West Virginia without flagging any suspicion, The Charleston Gazette-Mail reported. The panel is centered around two drug wholesalers who provided drugs to the pharmacies, Ohio-based Miami-Luken and Illinois-based H.D. Smith. Shipment papers indicate the wholesalers made large deliveries of the drugs over several consecutive days. The papers also show extreme increases in the number of drug orders from year to year. Both of these records should have sparked suspicion. The main drugs identified in the investigation are hydrocodone and oxycodone, two prescription painkillers. Mr. Meehan denied crossing the line into impropriety, but said in an interview that when the woman told him last year that she had started a relationship with someone outside the office, he “didn’t respond to it as well as I would like to have.” He said he believed his attempt to make amends — a handwritten letter in which he called her “a complete partner to me” — was meant to be a sign of respect. “That I would find later that that was not something that she was comfortable with, really hurts me,” Mr. Meehan said. “This was a person who specifically invited communication with me so that she would be able to have the ability to be there for me.” The New York Times reported that Mr. Meehan, 62, a married father of three, had entered into a confidential agreement to settle the complaint brought by the aide, who is decades his junior. She left the office after filing a complaint alleging that Mr. Meehan became hostile after she rebuffed his romantic overtures, sources familiar with the situation told The Times.

Segment 3
The future looks less sunny for the renewable energy industry after the Trump administration announced this week that it plans to tax solar panels manufactured abroad. The announcement, which came from the office of U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer late Monday, took aim at Chinese solar panel producers, whom the administration says have been selling their goods in the United States for less than their fair market value. As a result of a report by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), the U.S. will now impose duties of up to 30 percent on solar equipment manufactured abroad. Such a move could damage the $28 billion solar energy industry. Eighty percent of the parts used in the U.S. solar industry are imported, and the Solar Energy Industries Association had previously projected job losses in the tens of thousands amid months of uncertainty about tax hikes. But solar panel manufacturers aren’t the only ones at the receiving end of Trump’s new tariffs. Washing machines made by South Korean manufacturers Samsung and LG were deemed “a substantial cause of serious injury” to U.S. manufacturers in the ITC report. In the first year, those products will face a 20 percent tariff on the initial 1.2 million washers imported and a 50 percent tariff on all machines after that. Those tariffs will eventually decrease to 16 and 40 percent, respectively, in three years. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the state’s congressional map is the result of gerrymandering, to the point that it violates the state constitution. The court ordered that the state must draw a new congressional map ahead of the 2018 midterms, according to multiple reports. The decision is a major victory for Democrats, who argued the map had been gerrymandered to benefit Republicans. Republicans redrew the state’s map in 2011. The state’s general assembly must submit a new map to the governor for consideration by Feb. 9, according to the court order.

Cenk. At least two students were killed and 17 other people were injured in a school shooting on Tuesday at Marshall County High School in Benton, Ky. Authorities arrested a Michigan man last week after he allegedly called CNN several times, threatening to kill employees at the network's Atlanta, Georgia, headquarters, according to a federal affidavit. Brandon Griesemer made 22 calls to CNN on January 9 and January 10 and four calls, which were recorded, contained threats, according to the affidavit, which was unsealed Friday. Griesemer, whose age was not given, also made disparaging statements about Jewish people, African-Americans and the network in several calls, the affidavit said.

FBI Agent Peter Strzok was dismissed from Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s team after messages he sent that demonstrated a bias against President Donald Trump. Oddly enough, that same agent almost didn’t even join Mueller’s office because he didn’t think here was any evidence of the Trump campaign colluding with Russia. Attorney General Jeff Sessions — at the public urging of President Donald Trump — has been pressuring FBI Director Christopher Wray to fire Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, but Wray threatened to resign if McCabe was removed. Chuck Schumer is taking his big spending boost for Donald Trump’s border wall off the table. The Senate minority leader, through an aide, informed the White House that he was retracting the offer he made last week to give Trump well north of the $1.6 billion in wall funding Trump had asked for this year, according to two Democrats. And now they say Trump will simply not get a better deal than that on his signature campaign promise.

How different parts of US define fake news. The California Democrat said the tax cuts signed by President Donald Trump mostly benefited the wealthy while tossing “bread crumbs” to lower-income taxpayers. “For one thing, it’s a very, very big deal,” a Trump voter named Sue told Fox News about the $1,000 bonus she got from her employer, Walmart. “When you work for a company and they want to give you $1,000 just because our president gave them a tax break, to me it’s a big deal.” Fox News did not publish a story the network had on an alleged sexual relationship between President Trump and adult-film actress Stephanie Clifford during the 2016 presidential election, according to a new report. CNN reports that Fox News reporter Diana Falzone wrote a story a month before voters went to the polls in 2016 on the alleged relationship between Trump and Clifford, whose stage name is “Stormy Daniels."

The Trump administration is poised to overhaul the HHS civil rights office as part of a broader plan to protect health workers who don't want to perform abortions, treat transgender patients seeking to transition or provide other services for which they have religious or moral objections. Under a proposed rule — which has been closely guarded at HHS and is now under review by the White House — the civil rights office would be empowered to further shield these workers and punish organizations that don’t allow them to express their religious and moral objections, according to sources on and off the Hill. That would be a significant shift for the office, which currently focuses on enforcing federal civil rights and health care privacy laws. Donald Trump has defended himself amid international outrage over offensive comments he is accused of making about some African, Central American and Caribbean countries, insisting: “I am not a racist.” The US president was condemned by the United Nations and the African Union (AU) after it was reported that he had referred to Haiti, El Salvador and nations in Africa as “shithole countries” during a White House meeting last week. As Trump headed to dinner at his golf club in Florida on Sunday, he was confronted by a reporter: “What do you say to people who say you’re a racist?”
The president said: “No, no, I’m not a racist. I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed, that I can tell you.”

Cenk & John. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) appears to have made a startling revelation about why she released the Fusion GPS transcripts on Tuesday — she was “pressured” to do so. 'I meant to tell him, and I didn’t have a chance to tell him, and that concerns me,' she told us. 'I just got pressured, and I didn’t do it.' President Donald Trump on Wednesday urged Republicans in Congress to "take control" of the investigations into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, prompting some head-scratching from a top GOP investigator on Capitol Hill. Ana, John, & Michael Shure. White House policy adviser and Trump loyalist Stephen Miller tried to finish his combative conversation with CNN’s Jake Tapper after the cameras stopped rolling on Sunday but the anchor wanted no part of it, according to a CNN source. Miller, an architect of Trump’s immigration policy, was cut off by Tapper during an appearance on “State of the Union” during a heated interview. The CNN anchor eventually said, “I’ve wasted enough of my viewers’ time,” when the two men couldn’t come to an on-camera agreement regarding Michael Wolff’s controversial anti-Trump book.

Segment 2
Steve Bannon might be trying to get back into President Trump‘s good graces, but if the White House’s latest statement is any indication, that bridge might’ve burned down for good. As the president flew to Nashville to give a speech to the American Farm Bureau Federation, White House spokesman Hogan Gidley held a press conference with reporters on Air Force One. The Trump Administration is still reeling from the firestorm caused by Bannon’s remarks to Michael Wolff, and when Gidley was asked about this on Monday, he suggested that the administration is not going to accept Bannon’s recent halfway attempt to apologize. President Donald Trump slammed reports questioning his mental stability in a series of tweets Saturday morning, writing he's a "very stable genius" after the publication of an exposé about his first year as President put the White House into damage-control mode.

Hour 1: Cenk. More details in Michael Wolff's book: how stupid Trump is, how big of a child he is. Lawyers on behalf of President Donald Trump sent a letter Wednesday night to former White House Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon demanding he refrain from making disparaging comments against the president and his family. One of the craziest excerpts, and that’s saying a lot, in Michael Wolff’s upcoming White House tell-all is a dinner between Steve Bannon and deceased Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, in which Ailes tells Bannon that President Donald Trump “would jump through hoops” for both Rupert Murdoch and Vladimir Putin. This dinner also allegedly presented the two discussing Trump’s foreign policy acumen, or lack thereof, of the looming threat of China, as well as the creation of a brand new news network, which is alleged to have already counted Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly as two of its on-air personalities.

The problem here, to many, is who to trust. Ailes is dead and Bannon is disgraced.
The Hollywood Reporter’s co-president Janice Min stated on Twitter that Wolff’s transcript of the evening is totally on-point.

Hour 2: A new excerpt from Michael Wolff’s upcoming book "Fire and Fury" claims that President Trump made provocative comments about White House communications director Hope Hicks that sent her running out of the room. Hour 1: Cenk & John. Donald Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon has described the Trump Tower meeting between the president’s son and a group of Russians during the 2016 election campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic”, according to an explosive new book seen by the Guardian. Bannon, speaking to author Michael Wolff, warned that the investigation into alleged collusion with the Kremlin will focus on money laundering and predicted: “They’re going to crack Don Junior like an egg on national TV.” Trump tweets response to Steve Bannon. *Cenk predicts Jared Kushner flipping on Trump*

Hour 2: On Tuesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Trump’s time on the links when asked by Yahoo News reporter Hunter Walker what his biggest accomplishment there has been. “I think it would certainly be developing deeper and better relationships with members of Congress in which those relationships have helped push forward the president’s agenda ― specifically when it comes to helping get the tax reform and tax cuts passed,” Sanders said, adding, “He has played golf with a number of senators and used that time certainly to accomplish that.” Researchers from Dartmouth College, Princeton University, and the University of Exeter found that around one in four Americans visited a fake news website in the weeks before and after the 2016 election. The study notes that this consumption of fake news was “heavily concentrated among a small group”—almost six in ten visits to fake news websites came from just 10% of Americans, and that those visitors were deeply pro-Trump.

Even as lines begin to form at local dispensaries, LAPD officials are expected to hold a news conference Tuesday to discuss rules, regulations and enforcement of legal adult use and sale of cannabis.
It’s now also illegal to ingest pot and drive a vehicle under bill taking effect Jan. 1 that outlaws smoking and ingesting marijuana, just as it’s already unlawful for drivers or passengers to drink alcohol while driving. Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had made the accusation in his first comments on the protests. US envoy to the UN Nikki Haley said the protests were "spontaneous", adding that the US planned to call an emergency UN meeting on the situation. The unrest began last Thursday and has seen 22 people killed.
